Tutor Policy

Job Acceptance

  • Read all terms and conditions of every job before you apply. Ensure you are qualified and meet the job requirements before you apply.

  • You are expected to only apply to jobs within your location or the locations you can go to without arriving late.

  • Do not apply for a job if you are sick, or indisposed due to any unforeseen circumstances or personal reasons.

Job Application

  • If you are given a job, you are expected to call the client within one hour and inform the Learning Support Officer attached to you. Refusal to call the client within one hour could lead to the forfeiture of the booking/class.

  • Once you agree to take a job and later inform us that you are no longer available, your account will be deleted immediately.

  • Do not share the client’s contact (phone number and home address) with a third party. If you do, your account will be deleted immediately.

  • Avoid calling the clients at odd hours (early morning or late at night).

  • When communicating with the client, be polite and professional. Please, avoid undue familiarity.

On the Job

  • You should on no account negotiate tutoring fees or demand money from the client. If you do, your account will be deleted immediately.

  • You should on no account miss a class without prior notice of 48 hours. If you miss a class, you are to organise a make-up class if the class missed falls on a weekday. If the class missed falls on a weekend, kindly organise a make-up class in the following week.

  • The use of corporal punishment is strictly prohibited. If a tutee misbehaves, kindly inform the parents and Tuteria immediately. If you mete out corporal punishment on a tutee, your account will be deleted permanently and Tuteria will not be responsible for any charge held against you by the client.

  • Avoid any misconduct of either the tutee or the client. If the tutee/client is rude to you, reach out to Tuteria immediately.

  • Any form of unprofessionalism like eating at the client’s house, making calls, chatting, or streaming social media content with your phone during class is not allowed. You can only take a bottle of water to your class.

  • Once you complete a booking, do not start a fresh one until you get a confirmation from the Learning Support Officer. Tuteria will not pay for any lesson you did not get a confirmation for.

  • You should on account offer any Tuteria staff money or a gift, if you do, your account will be deleted immediately.

  • You should on no account use abusive/vulgar words when relating to Tuteria staff.

  • You should on no account post irrelevant posts on any of Tuteria’s social media platforms. If you do so, your account will be suspended for six months.

  • You are expected to be at the lesson venue (physical or online class) 15 minutes before the start of class.

  • You are expected to fully exhaust the time allotted for the class before leaving the venue.

  • You should on no account go to the client’s house with your friends or family.

After Job

  • You should on no account collect payment for booking from the client.

  • You should on no account attempt to borrow money or demand transport fare from the client. If you do, you will be suspended for six months.

Job Cancellation Procedure

  • .You cannot cancel a booking you have already agreed to take except for the following reasons: health or insecurity challenges.

  • Case one: If you have an active booking that you want to stop, you are to inform Tuteria two weeks ahead. You must prepare the progress report of your tutee which would be handed over to the new tutor to continue the booking. You would not be paid if you fail to follow this procedure.

  • Case two: If you have a recurring booking and you wish to stop, you are expected to inform Tuteria one month ahead. You must prepare the progress report of your tutee which would be handed over to the new tutor to continue the booking. You would not be paid if you fail to follow this procedure.
