1. I have tutored IELTS for a decade now. I have taught people sitting for both Academic and General Training modules; besides teaching UKVI candidates. We go through: listening, speaking, reading and writing. I have taught a doctor traveling to the UK to practice there. He got an 8.0 overall on the IELTS which was what he needed to go practice as a consultant gynecologist over there.

2. I have students that got 9.0 in listening, others got perfect scores in speaking. While reading and writing were not left out. My students got expert user labels at them. We did lots of practice tests until we were blue in the face. The practice is the key to excel alongside knowing the rules/tips.

3. All you need are the recommended texts such as Barron's IELTS by Lougheed, Kaplan's IELTS. Cambridge IELTS or British Council's Official IELTS texts on practice materials as well as on tips/ strategies. Disc for the listening part should be copied on your system. Watching lots of videos on youtube would go a long way in helping you ace the IELTS. One has to demonstrate the utmost seriousness at achieving success. I introduce my students to everything about IELTS generally and specifically. I tell them about what the examiners look out for. What's more, I introduce my students to online resources such as edX, etc.

4. For Writing, you need to work on Task Achievement, Coherence and Cohesion, Grammatical Range and Accuracy and Lexical Resource. These are the 4 criteria that would be used to grade you.

5. For speaking the criteria are Fluency and Coherence, Pronunciation, Grammatical Range and Accuracy, Lexical Resource.
