The IELTS and TOEFL results are important requirements for prospective immigrants or international students looking to study in the US, UK, and a host of other English speaking countries. Oftentimes they are substitutes and at other times one is preferred to the other. As with most examinations, these tests are designed to test proficiency in the subject - English Language but acing them takes more than just having a good command of English, in fact without a strategy, this skill alone (good command of English) cannot guarantee you an impressive performance. Four skills are tested on both exams: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing. The reading section tests your ability to understand comprehension passages and in addition to the listening section, test takers often find it quite facile. On the other hand, candidates often have a hard time cracking the speaking and writing sections. These two sections tests a combination of test takers' skills but amongst all, brevity is key and will pay off immeasurably if one possesses it.
