English as a second language must be in stages of learning. Begin with English for Elementary level and progressing to Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced levels.

Children/pupils rise to the challenge of reading fluently, writing proficiently, and building vocabulary and comprehension when their lessons are engaging and fun. Interactive lessons and assessments guide elementary learners from phonemic awareness (reading readiness) all the way to fluency, while also developing skills in sight reading, grammar, the writing process, and reading for understanding.

A child needs to be taught in correct and simple English, the use of pidgin English to educate a child has adverse effect on the educational development of the child. At least, a child should be spoken to using 120 correct English words in a day.

I'm a professional tutor in childhood education with six years experience. I have tutored many children between the age of 4-15 years on literacy education, elementary English language and other elementary subjects. I used interactive and practical methods to teach pupils.

Having been in British and American systems of education and taught students/pupils using their curriculums, I found out that in primary/elementary school stage, the level of learning using British curriculum is substantially higher. However, it seems to me that the American curriculum picks up.
