Teaching mathematics has always come easy for me. Even as a child having to help my younger sister with her maths homework, I never found it tedious. It is the reason why everywhere I find myself, an opportunity to teach often presents itself. I have prepared neighbours, family and friends who were struggling with mathematics for different exams, (WAEC, UTME, Post UTME, etc.) and they all did well in the subject.

Last year, I tutored my young neighbour for her common entrance exam. She was not yet in the common entrance class, a year behind actually, and she had less than a month to the exam. After three weeks of intensive training, she took the exam, passed and is now a student of a reputable secondary school in the country.

I believe we did this, not just by the use of learning aids, mnemonics, memory aids etc. (which are important), but by my constant reassurance of her ability to pass and also by demystifying the subject, which helped reduce her fear of it.

Also, knowing that every person is unique and learns in different ways allows me to adapt my teaching style to suit the student.
