Literacy is the ability to read, write, speak and listen in a way that lets us communicate effectively and make sense of the world. Numeracy is the ability to use numbers to solve real-life problems. Numeracy is as important as literacy. Numeracy and literacy are foundation skills that help learners in their future learning.

Through counting, comparing and play-based teaching, I take my learners through different stages of numeracy. We start by counting objects around and through this, they get familiar with numbers. I also introduce basic mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication to further improve their calculation skills. My learners start with pronunciation and identification of sounds to improve their reading and speaking skills. also include blending of sound to improve identification and pronunciation of new vocabularies. I give room for self-discovery and freedom of expression.

As a literacy coach at a book club, I use the interpretation of pictures and diagrams to create a better understanding of topics. My pupils are given a chance to express themselves as much as they can. Through the use of back counting and skip counting, my learners get familiar with addition and subtraction. I evaluate teaching through quiz and hands-on activities.
