Teaching a child or a teenager with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder can be quite dreary.

Over the years, I have used this technique and it has always yielded great results. What I usually do is to signal the start of a lesson with a cue, such as my starter watch, and to show how much time remains in a lesson.

I usually use a non-verbal cue to maintain attention such as eye contact or clicking of my fingers.

In opening the lesson, I tell my student what he/she would learn and what my expectations are. In the course of the lesson, I make it a habit to list the activities of the lesson on the board and their objectives.

In conducting the lesson, I keep instructions simple, clear, concise, and structured. I make use of props, charts, and other visual aids. This methodology has always been successful for my students. I try as much as possible to vary the pace and include different kinds of learning and educational activities such as competitive games or other activities that are rapid and intense. This helps to sustain interest.

Most importantly, I allow my student to have frequent breaks and let him/her tap something that doesn’t make noise as a physical outlet. This pattern reduces boredom. I reward good behavior with praises and stickers.

To end the lesson, I make a summary of the key points. A trial of my competence will convince you.

Both curricula are well furnished to address the need of any child. No one is higher but they do have their differences. Some proponents of British curriculum has it that it's more practical and engaging, what this means is that it addresses what the child sees every day and has activities.
