As a seasoned tutor in IELTS- with more than 5 years teaching experience- I have transversed all the ups and downs, high and lows of IELTS, as such, I can help you overcome outrightly the challenges of passing the IELTS. I have tutored over 50 candidates in IELTS with each not scoring below 7.5 band score. Importantly, It is good to know that the IELTS is not an IQ test but a scrutiny deviced to ascertain competency or know how in the use of the English Language. And so, I believe anyone who understands the English Language with the necessary rubrics as I will walk us through can scale through the hurdles of the examination.

The IELTS is categorised into two distinct parts that is Academic and General Training. They both have the same modules as well as duration, however, they distinguish partly in Reading and Writing. The Academic IELTS is a reserve of immigrants seeking further studies in any Anglophone nation across Europe, America, Australia and New Zealand. General Writing on the other hand, as the name implies is for all and sundry relocating for work or otherwise.

The IELTS consists of four modules as follows: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
The Listening requires a keen listening skill and as such one need to be very familiar with the nuances such as accent variations- which refers to a linguistic factor that shows distinctive and peculiar differences in the tongues of different people in a particular region. To instantiate, Native speakers such as England, Scotland, Wales and the Northern Ireland not only have their individual respective accents but, also, have regional differences such as the Tyneside accents different from the Northamptonshire both in England and also Gaelic by the Celts in Scotland and the Ireland etc. Non native speakers also varies in accent such as Canadian, Aussie, New Zealand ( Kiwis ) et al. Another indispensable factor of the Listening module is brevity or conciseness i.e minding the number of words not exceeding the required...

The Reading is another aspect of the IELTS that requires keen attention hence, candidates should be equipped with the adequate reading skills. Here, timing is very crucial because of the complexity of passages which could pose serious problem in choosing the right answers. I will help to show you how to manage your time via skimming, scanning, prediction, and highlighting.

The Writing is sub-divided into two parts; the first part is a letter of not less than 150 words for General and a write up analysis in like manner for Academic. The second part is the same for both categories where the candidates are expected to write an essay of not less than 250 words. In all, the candidates will be accessed based on task achievement, coherence and cohesion( organisation ), lexical resources I.e vocabulary range and then grammatical range as well as mechanics.

The speaking module is the fourth part. Here, the candidate is going to have a face- to- face interview with an examiner where they will be asked questions on variety of topics ranging from personal information, hobbies, and discussion on a long turn for about 14 to 15 minutes max. In this aspect, the interviewer will access the candidate on their competency in the verbal use of English Language thus: fluency, coherence and accuracy will be put into utmost consideration.
