Music Theory is the study of the rudiments of music. The rudiments of music are those basic requirements or elements needed to produce and enjoy music in totality. Therefore, music theory is the study of how music works and how it can be appreciated and enjoyed.
I have been teaching music for a very long time and I have graduated lots of outstanding students. My students can play musical instruments excellently and they also have a qualitative knowledge of music theory. They can read and write music. They are musically literate.
I always start my teachings from the very basics and I follow a step by step but quick approach to learning. I give assignments and class works so as to test the level of understanding of my students and I strongly recommend that each of my students have his or her own musical instrument as a training tool to hasten and improve learning .
Music is not difficult or boring but it is very easy and interesting to know. What you need is determination, dedication and discipline.
