Swimming is an art as well as a form of exercise; which aims to build up general body fitness, improve the cardiovascular physiology of the body, and tone the major muscles of the body. It is our ability to become one with the aquatic.
As a swimming instructor of over 8 years, I've learnt that the greatest obstacle to being able to swim is the fear of water and more especially, drowning (hydrophobia). Thus, the greatest achievement as an instructor is to help the pupil overcome this fear, and become as comfortable as a 'fish' in the water. Only after this is done, can progress be made.
Students will need to get a comfortable swim gear (swim-suit or swim-short, depending on gender), swim goggles (to prevent eye irritation and redness), a floater or inflated tube (which may be optional), and any other recommended swimming accessory, which may vary depending on the individual).
