Basic Mathematics

For many years I have been taken kids in Basic school mathematics. I realized that for my pupils have improved greatly because of the way I try to demystify maths. I have always made them pick the themes such as fraction, percentage, ratio, equations, word problems, algebra, probability and statistic.

All of the pupils I have taught have always had an improvement in their performance, this is because apart from in-depth teaching I provide, I also train pupils to study properly and make sense of whatever they learnt.

I have always taught my students from the known to the unknown. I first of all find out their ideas and knowledge about a particular theme in Basic Mathematics and try to discover which knowledge they are missing. Once I realize where they are deficient, I try to introduce them to the new knowledge using things they are familiar with to consolidate their grasp of the new concept and also push their reasoning to catching the knowledge themselves instead of bombarding them with an already established knowledge or fact. In this way I help to develop their ability to pick up knowledge themselves even without a tutor present with them.

I have always kept evaluating my student’s performance and grasp of ideas and concepts by availing them with challenging exercises that will further broaden their understanding.

I have taught British and American curricula both in schools and in tutorials for about four years. The British Mathematics is hard core i.e, students learnt concepts the raw way but later see how to apply it to real life situation. But in American curriculum, concepts are demystified.
