General Mathematics

More than 6 years experience

I have taught students in different schools and states the basic themes in Mathematics for more than 8 years. I have taught algebra, calculus, statistics, graphs and graph fitting, geometry, trigonometry, and mapping, etc to my students in all simplicity and they have been better of it.

I have taught this subject to all levels of students, from grade 6 to undergraduate level. For the past 8 years, I have prepared students for various exams ranging from the common entrance to university Maths courses with a huge level of performance including BECE, junior NECO, PSAT, SAT/ACT, Cambridge O'L, and IGCSE.

I have done this for over four years with most of the students I prepared having Bs and As. I have about 20 of them schooling in Canada, US and Ghana colleges and Universities presently. My painstaking commitment to helping students achieve their academic goals made Graceville college, new Bodija in Ibadan to give me Role Model award in 2013.

I have always taught my students from the known to the unknown. I, first of all, find out their ideas and knowledge about a particular theme in Mathematics and try to discover which knowledge they are missing. Once I realize where they are deficient, I try to introduce them to the new knowledge using things they are familiar with to consolidate their grasp of the new concept and also to push their reasoning to catch the knowledge themselves instead of bombarding them with an already established knowledge or fact. In this way, I help to develop their ability to pick up knowledge themselves even without a tutor present with them.

I have always kept evaluating my student’s performance and grasp of ideas and concepts by availing them with challenging exercises that will further broaden their understanding.

I have taught British and American curricula both in schools and in tutorials for about four years. The British Mathematics is hard core i.e, students learnt concepts the raw way but later see how to apply it to real life situation. But in American curriculum, concepts are demystified.
