Verbal reasoning is an aid to Language studies. It helps a child to familiarize with words and the basics in word formation. I assist the child to be conversant with many ways words can be formed and their sounds or phonics.
When teaching a beginner, i start with the letter of the Alphabets. We look at two letter words, three letter words and word blends. In the case of senior primary classes, we look at word breaks, syllables, similar sounding words, compound words and affixes.
I have been working with three different families in Lekki Phase one since 2013 and the results of these pupils in Verbal Reasoning have been tremendous as they proceed from one class to another class.
What I need from every child is the materials of study. In this case, I use mostly Bond Assessment books on Verbal Reasoning. The reason is that it has grades for every class.
