Every child has different reasoning ability but I specifically challenge my pupils by making quantitative reasoning a practice based one and less of theory. The teaching approach which has been producing results is to make pupils do some work until they understand and be able to apply this understanding in a meaningful way.
I worked more on slow learners and it takes me minimum of three months to work on their reasoning and make them apply their understanding in a relevant way. I have been working with three different families in Lekki Phase 1 since 2013 and the results of these pupils in Quantitative Reasoning have been tremendous as they proceed from one class to another class.
What I need from every child is the materials of study. In this case, I use Lantern Steps to Quantitative Reasoning, Inside out Quantitative. The reason is that it has grades for every class.
