I've been a guitar player for a very long while and have had the opportunity of teaching a couple of friends, colleagues and clients in which they all turned out to be good guitar players themselves.
My strategy is simply to make learning the guitar a fun experience and in a very short period of time, you will be able to play to a couple of popular songs.
