As a general approach, lessons will typically begin with a 10 to 15 minutes KYS (Know Your Student) conversation during which the learner and the teacher will get to know each other. Above all, this exercise provides me the critical hints regarding a learner's capacity and pace. This information informs the predominant style of instruction i will adopt going forward. It is worthy of note to state however that, the style of instruction might be varied from time to time for the best learning outcomes. As a matter of fact, this is recommended and i am a strong proponent of this practice as it mimics practical experiential learning.
