The TOEFL test measures the non native speaker's ability to use and understand English at the university level. And it evaluates how well he is able to combine his reading, listening, speaking and writing skills to perform academic tasks. The test comprises of four segments; reading, listening, speaking and writing. And so, to master this test, not only should the test taker understand the basic rules of the English language in recognizing phones, word and sentence structure, semantics and stylistics, he should also be exposed to a variety of accents in order to sharpen his listening skills.
Having majored in English Linguistics, I am equipped with the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to adeptly describe the English Language, together with appropriate training in the art of speaking; a combination of grammatical accuracy and eloquence, and academic writing.
