My teaching approach and style is to:
Conduct quiz and test to monitor student progress and understanding of verbal reasoning at the end of each class lessons.
Coached students to strengthen grammar, spelling, paragraph writing and essay writing skills.
Develop individualized instructional and tutoring plan, integrating curriculum objectives with state and common core learning standards.
Share instance feedback to motivate students to learn and verbally inform students of their progress.
Prepare students for external examinations and identify areas needed improvement.
Verbal reasoning is the ability to comprehend and reason using concept expressed through words. It assesses our understanding and comprehension skills. Verbal reasoning is use both in schools and by many employers to test the skills of their prospective employers and by many graduate training schemes to distinguish between applicants.
Verbal reasoning is basically about how we think with words. It is a form of understanding and reasoning concept based around words and language. It involves problem solving around words, thinking about text, following written instructions and deciphering a solution, understanding later sequences and decoding number-base codes.

Verbal reasoning judges person ability to problem solving, critical and constructive thinking and general intelligence. There are many types of verbal reasoning questions which include:
Insert a letter, where you must find a letter that will fit onto the end of one word and the beginning of another to form two new words;
Find words that do not belong in a set group of words;
Find words that have the same, similar or opposite in meaning;
Find hidden words within a sentence.
Work out which number stands for which letter;
Word connections;
Letter and number sequences;
Read information and analysis.




Verbal reasoning is something that can be improves with practice and dedication. Example:
1. PEAR = HEAR, PEAR = NEAR.
2. Gerry’s dad Mike is three times as old as Gerry was 2 years ago. If Gerry is 17 next year how old is his dad?
Answer = 42 (If Gerry is 17 next year that would make him 16, meaning he was 14 two years ago: 14 * 3 = 42).
The importance of verbal reasoning:
Verbal reasoning is important both in a child’s life to adulthood. Developing their verbal reasoning skills will allow a child to develop qualities such as perception; understanding and solving complicated subject questions, empathy and logical reasoning as well as ensuring they have a great vocabulary.
I have helped children to perform well in verbal reasoning test and entrance examinations by encouraging them to read books such as novels and whatever books they come in contact with in order to built an extensive vocabulary.

Vocabulary of words can also be built by web fiction, blog fiction and fan fiction on the internet.
I also help children to have a solid grasp of synonyms (words that have the same meaning), and antonyms (words that mean the opposite of each other) including plurals, good spelling skills and strong mathematic skills.
A good general knowledge is also required if a child understand the question and can follow written direction.
My advice to parents is to encourage their children to verbal reasoning skills through reading. Reading will not only increase their vocabulary but they will learn to interpret words and understand comprehensions.
It is important to note that most employers who use Psychometric tests in graduate selection will include a verbal reasoning test. This is because there are very few graduate careers which don’t require the ability to understand, analyze and interpret written information, often of a complex or specialize nature. This test includes a number of short passages. You are asked to indicate whether the statements are true or false, or whether it is not possible to say so either way.
In answering these questions, use only the information given in the passage and do not try to answer them in the light of any more detailed knowledge which you personally may have.
