I help them in their phonics skills for readers, beginning with letter / sound correspondences, to pronouncing words and then attach meaning to them. I help readers develop and apply other decoding skills , such as recognizing word parts (roots and affixes) and the ability to decode multisyllable words. I use actions that help them become authentic that they are able to easily match up words while they are reading. I use sounds and pictures for better understanding and to aid reading in ease. I use sing alongs that teach specific sounds. I use movement and sound play because the more kids move around, the more their brains build the gray matter needed to retain information. I am confident that I can help you and your ward master phonics. I will create experiences for them to see the concept in action and allow them to practice the concept, reflect on the experience and discuss what they have learned from it with me.
