Handwriting Improvement

My first experience was with a five year old whom I tutored English language. I discovered that he was struggling with handwriting, his writing was not legible, poor letter formations, and his letters could not reach the top and bottom lines of a lined paper.
I started with sand tracing for the five year old child, I ensured he changed his sitting posture; I introduced lined worksheets so he could learn to write neatly on the lines. We moved to learning how to hold the pencil correctly by lightly holding the pencil between the thumb and the index finger and support it with the middle finger. Within a short while his writing improved greatly with lots of practice. It was a huge milestone achieved just before he graduated from Nursery to grade one.
