How I can help
Dyslexia
More than 1 year experience
The first and most important thing a teacher teaching a dyslexic student needs to have is PATIENCE. This is one attribute that is paramount to the success of the student. As a tutor, understanding what Dyslexia is and how this disorder affects the student and his/her ability to learn, I have to ensure that my attitude towards the student is encouraging, patient and persistent. Knowing that Dyslexia is primarily associated with reading problems, my focus would be on applying various techniques and strategies of helping the child. It's important to maintain a positive attitude so that the student does not lose motivation and develop low self-esteem as this just aggravates the problem.
Techniques that involve visual aids, sound and kinesthetic learning can significantly increase the student's ability to read.
