Literacy & Numeracy

With over 7years in tutoring and 5years in the classroom I have come to know that no child is dull he/ she just needs a creative and understanding teacher. Numeracy and Literacy are foundational subjects and most pupils find it difficult so in order to get the most results teaching sounds are my basis, when a child can grasp the concept of sounds, spelling and reading will be fun and achieved in no time likewise passing knowledge across to that pupil will be very easy. Numeracy on the other hand should be presented to a child as concrete and the ability of a child to relate to it will develop love in his/her heart for the subject. I have had to teach a basic three and basic one child the concept of sounds to get them to read in which I achieved in three months. I also taught and prepared a basic five student who disliked math for her common entrance exams in six months and she passed. I have so many success stories and this is because I believe there is nothing like a "Dull Child"
I don't teach from one source so most times I go online and print out different materials to aid my pupil. Also the use of cardboards, makers,sticky notes,dictionary and recommended textbooks makes my teaching successful.

I started my teaching career in 2010 at Nitel staff school where teaching was basically done with the Nigerian Curriculum, I taught at the primary level for two years after which I moved to Holbrook schools which is a Montessori school where both the Nigerian and British curriculum is used.
