Technology is the application of scientific knowledge to solve human needs and comfort.
Technology deals with applying science to solve other people’s problems. If, on the other hand, we apply science to solve our problems, that is termed science, not technology.

Basic technology as a subject is very important for junior secondary schools, which prepares students to mind towards physics in the senior secondary schools and engineering in colleges and universities.

One of the most crucial areas of Basic technology is the technical drawing aspect which though has been detached to stand alone in British and American curriculum. Basic technology requires basic mathematical knowledge as it encompasses some application of mathematical skills in calculations.
Measurement is another important target of Basic technology as physics and Engineering need this.

THE SIMPLE APPROACH TO TEACHING BASIC TECHNOLOGY
Which has worked for me is the ''HANDS-ON APPROACH''
Every topic in basic technology requires hands-on practicals, else learning is not taking place. In cases where we cant get hands-on, then short videos and pictures will do a good job. My past students passed junior WAEC excellently and this leads to commendations and recommendations in my former school (Decorum international School) where I taught.
