Verbal reasoning, in a nutshell, is thinking with words. As the name suggests, it’s a form of problem-solving based around words and language. It involves thinking about the text, solving word problems, following written instructions to come up with a solution, spotting letter sequences and cracking letter and number based codes. Verbal reasoning exams are intended to test a child’s ability to understand and reason using words, and are a test of skill, rather than of learned knowledge. The theory is that the examining body builds a picture of a child’s potential for critical thinking, problem-solving and intelligence.

So, it’s about implementing a methodology to ease the difficulty and increase your efficiency. Here are some of the techniques I devise for my students; The first step is to read and understand the whole problem, most likely the problem will provide a guide to the answer, take note of what is happening in the problem and try to picture it in your head.

Lesson planning and visually engaging educational techniques are just a few areas in which I have gained experience and thorough comprehension over the years. I also make use of illustrative analogies to aid the learning process of my student. This approach has been highly effective and has produced outstanding results even in slow learners. I access my students periodically and provide feedback to the parent.
