Mastery of a subject like Basic Science requires a lot of interest. That interest can be created when a well motivated tutor comes into the picture. I have a science background which allows me to lead the way in helping my pupil want to learn the subject. Using an internet enabled laptop and charts help a great deal. Also, consistent conversation between tutor and pupil sustains interest and focus. Persistence in revisiting already treated areas while also picking out key words to have spelling and definition exercises all help to ensure proper mastery. I recall teaching the Basic 6 class of Sureville Montessori School Lekki Lagos. The day would always start reciting the pasted details on Basic Science and other subjects before any formal class activity would be embarked upon.
